Receive and review the first draft of your design and submit any changes to the design team for modification.
While you are working with our team on the design, contact several local contractors for installation and finishing quotes. The contractor you choose will be responsible for assembling the Interhabs panels on your build site and all other aspects of the build not included in your Interhabs package.
Once your design drawings are complete, you will work with your Interhabs representative to confirm your package specifications. Your Interhabs representative will walk you through the many products available to us, to choose items such as: siding, roofing, windows, and doors (depending on what your package requirements are). Our staff are extremely knowledgeable in the variety of building materials we offer and are happy to answer any questions you have.
Our traditional packages include:
After the design and material choices are selected you will receive a quotation package that includes the price with a detailed list of build materials for you to review.
Our packages do not include on-site assembly. You will need a contractor to prep your site, assemble panels and do any additional finishing touches.
When you accept the quote and make your initial deposit (10% of the package price) your Interhabs home will be placed into our production schedule. Lead times can vary, so it is important to confirm this with your Interhabs representative and contractor.
You will also be sent a copy of the final drawings to be used when you or your contractor apply for permits. It is important to check with your municipality to find out what the building requirements are in your area.
The manufacturing of your home’s panels begins! We use the best lumber available and efficiently handcraft the panels within the controlled environment of our Hubbards, NS facility.
A payment of 30% of the package price is due before the construction of panels. An additional 30% of the package price is due when the windows and doors are delivered, and the balance owing is due upon the final delivery of Interhabs materials to the worksite.
Panel delivery will be scheduled between your Interhabs representative and either you or your contractor. We also recommend the use of a ‘zoom boom’ to make onsite handling easier. The panels are numbered to your drawings for ease of installation by your contractor
Most builds will have the interior finished by their contractor, including cabinetry, flooring, walls, etc.
As a division of Nova Scotia Building Supplies, our team mates in Blockhouse and at Chester Building Supplies can help you source and select everything you need for your interior.
Bring in your furniture, hang your pictures on the wall and relax in your new home or cottage!
